Team Georgia is pleased to announce that it will offer teams in 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U for the 2013-14 season.
In 12U, head coach Jeff Riely joins
Team Georgia to lead the '01 team in that age group. In 14U, head coach Bob Baccari moves up from 12U where he led
the squad to an ASA nationals berth to guide the 1st year '00 team in the 14U age group. Head coach Heath Hawk will return from a
successful season heading the 1st year 14U squad to lead the 2nd year 14U '99 team. Head coach John Erb will move
from 14U to the 1st year 16U '98 team slot after guiding his squad to a berth at ASA nationals. All 3 returning Team Georgia head
coaches had outstanding seasons in 2012-13.
In the 18U division, Team Georgia will offer a single 18A team as it did in 2012-13. At this time, the 18A team is expected to
have very limited openings and there are no plans for an open tryout. The 18A team will be looking to repeat its success from
2012-13 where it qualified for ASA 18A Nationals and ASA 18A Hall of Fame in addition to a 3rd place finish at ASA 18A GA State.
TEAM GEORGIA 12U EARNS BERTH TO 2013 ASA NATIONALS
Team Georgia 12U completed its undefeated run through the Region 4 qualifier on Sunday afternoon to earn their berth to the 2013
ASA 12U nationals. In doing so, the team becomes the 4th Team Georgia squad to qualify for 2013 nationals and at the same time
means Team Georgia will be represented in 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U at this year's national championships. After coming close to
claiming a berth twice with 2nd and 3rd place finishes at Georgia and nationals qualifiers, the 12U team never became discouraged
or lost focus of their goal. The 12U team started their run
on Friday night with a 16-1 win over the Lady Wolverines. The team continued their run on Saturday with victories over Worth Cobras
'01 (8-0), Elite Blue 2000 (7-2), and EC Athletics - Glass (10-0) to reach the berth final. On Sunday morning/afternoon, the team defeated
Chattanooga Force 2000 in a hard fought 5-2 contest to claim their berth to nationals to be held in Chattanooga, TN, at the end
of July. Congratulations to the players and coaches of the 12U squad for this outstanding achievement.
TEAM GEORGIA 14U EARNS BERTH TO 2013 ASA NATIONALS
Team Georgia 14U ('98 Erb) earned a berth to the 2013 ASA 14U national championship on Sunday by winning the national qualifier
held in Burlington, North Carolina. In doing so, the 14U team becomes the 3rd Team Georgia team to qualify for nationals in 2013
joining both the 16U and 18U squads. Staying in the winner bracket all weekend and defeating the NC Challengers 7-4 in the final,
the 14U team has earned a spot in the nationals to be held in Normal, IL, at the end of July. Congratulations to the players and
coaches of the 14U squad for this outstanding achievement.
TEAM GEORGIA 14U & 18U EARN BERTHS TO ASA HALL OF FAME CLASSIC
The Team Georgia 14U and 18U teams have earned berths to the prestigious ASA Hall of Fame Classic tournaments in
their respective age groups. Both tournaments are played at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City, OK,
which is the site of the recently completed NCAA Women's College World Series. The teams will compete against
25 other teams from across the US in this national qualifier event. At stake for the 14U team is a berth to the
ASA 14U Nationals in July as the Hall of Fame awards national berths to the top-8 finishers. As 18U is already
qualified for nationals, the team is going to Oklahoma City for the competition and experience. Good luck to
both teams in OKC.
TEAM GEORGIA 18U EARNS BERTH TO ASA 18U NATIONALS
Team Georgia 18U followed up their strong showing at the Dalton qualifier where they finished 3rd overall and just out of
the money for a nationals berth with an undefeated run at the Dublin qualifier this past weekend to earn a berth at the
2013 ASA 18A nationals. The team will make the trip to Salem, VA, in late July for the nationals which takes place July 27
through August 4. Congratulations to the 18A squad for their performances in the first two qualifiers of the season which
saw the team go 10-2 overall in qualifier games against the best 18A programs in the state before taking their berth to
the nationals over the weekend in Dublin.
TEAM GEORGIA 16U EARNS BERTH TO ASA 16U NATIONALS
Team Georgia 16U had a spectacular run through the winner bracket at the 1st Georgia ASA qualifier of the season this past
weekend in Marietta. The team defeated 97 Georgia Force and Alpharetta Fire on Friday evening before coming back Saturday
and defeating Atlanta Vipers (Berry/Jennings), GA Fire 96, and GA Outlaws to make it to the finals of the winner bracket.
With rain wiping out the completion of the winner bracket (and the loser bracket) for Sunday and with two berths at stake
in the qualifier, Team Georgia along with Worth Cobras 97 were awarded berths to the 2013 ASA nationals in Sunnyvale, CA.
Congratulations to Team Georgia for earning their berth against the best 16U competition in the state of Georgia and
congratulations also to Worth Cobras 97 in punching their ticket for nationals.
